TRANSCRIPT
Greetings fellow humanoids, we are the ladies of Stone Cold Country, and this is October 2023’s New Traditional.
Here we focus on new traditional leaning country songs from major label and Indie artists. But first a little country music news. So all you honky tonkers out there will be happy to hear there is yet another opportunity to kick up a little sawdust when you visit Nashville.
That is correct Sana. The Hank Williams Jr. Boogie Bar has opened in downtown Nashville, taking its place in the famous Lower Broadway district next to AJ’s Good Time Bar. Maybe they’ll have a great live band and we can check it out when we’re in Nashville again.
That is the only time I’ll go to a bar in Nashville, if there’s a smokin’ hot band I want to see live or a benefit concert for a good cause. For sure.
Oh, and I did want to mention that Toby Keith will take the stage at the Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM on Dec. 10 and 11 in Las Vegas. Toby is calling it his rehab shows …"First time in his whole life he’s been off over two years. His faith in God has helped him push through the whole stomach cancer situation. Love to hear it, and Keep fighting!
We’re happy to see Willie Nelson has the top album on the Bluegrass charts. It’s titled Bluegrass. I think it is his first full bluegrass album.
And the Swifties will be happy to know that Taylor is the lead nominee at the Billboard Music Awards. She already has 29 previous wins. SZA and Morgan Wallen tied for 17 nominations. And Luke Combs received 10 nominations. Jelly Roll and Bailey Zimmerman were nominated in the new artist category.
The show is on Sunday Nov 19th, and you can watch it on NBC, the Peacock channel and across Billboard’s social media channels.
Oh, and it’s not too early to get your tickets to the Opry Christmas show. This year Jon Pardi, Scotty McCreery, Trace Adkins, and several more will be gracing the hollowed circle. Get your tickets soon because it looks like the Dec 24th show will sell out. And speaking of Jon Pardi, he came down with Strep throat and had to cancel a couple of shows.
Aw, godspeed, strep throat is not fun..
We all love Dolly, but if you are trying to get a hold of her forget the phone. Reba was on Southern Accents Radio, and said that you have to fax Dolly’s people to get a hold of her.. Lol, Yes, that’s right, fax.. You fax her people then they get a hold of Dolly for you. And while on The Talk show The View, Dolly said cell phones, text messages, emails and social media is a world she does not want to get into as she is surrounded by people all the time as it is.. Wow..
I can totally relate. I always give people my email instead of my phone number. And I hardly ever check DMs.. Lol
And sadly the oldest doggie in the world Bobbi has passed on. He was from Portugal. He died at the ripe old age of 31. He was a pure bred rafeiro do alentejo. They are guard dogs and don’t usually last past 14 years of age or so. He was so adorable! Rest in peace. We’re coming up on the CMA Awards.
Yes, its on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 8:00 p.m. to 11 p.m.
You can watch it on ABC and Hulu. The competition for entertainer of the year is fierce w/ Lainey, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs and several more vying for the top honor.
And very obviously absent from the song and single of the year category is the biggest song of 2023 and ever really, Last Night by Morgan Wallen. Don’t know what happened there.. Very odd indeed..
The internet broke again when Morgan debuted his new do..lol.
Some of his fans commented that he looked like he was going to pull you over and ask for your driver’s license..lol
Really, let me see, oh, it’s the haircut and mustache together. Facial hair always makes people look a little older..
What do you think about the new do?
It’s definitely a step in the right direction...
And some bad news y’all the 2024vStagecoach Festival is sold out! Congrats to those that got their tickets early!
Well let’s get things started, Scotty McCreery, Cab In A Solo Currently number 34 on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart.
Happy to see some traditional country music on the Billboard charts! Let’s give this one a spin.
Jon Pardi, Luke Bryan, Cowboys & PlowBoys Penned by Rhett Adkins, Cole Taylor, Jacob Rice. A song that celebrates the connections between the cowboy lifestyle and the farming lifestyle. Even though they have different roots, they’re both emblematic of country music.
The Bottle Is Half Full, Jami Grooms The singer thanks God for his recovery from alcoholism and the new life and hope he has because of it.
Shane Owens, Grandpa’s Hand Me Downs Owens expresses gratitude towards his late Grandpa for all the things he taught him and that he passes down to his own kids.
Thomas Rhett & Morgan Wallen, Mammaw’s House A ode to grandmothers everywhere, inspired by Morgan’s own Mammaw calling in during one of his and Rhett’s songwriting sessions.
We’re closing out with Chris Stapleton’s smokin’ hot new song.. I love the old school rhythm section on this. Reminds me of some of the Mighty Merle’s 80’s stuff like Favorite Memory. Plus Chris ‘s soulful heartfelt delivery seals the deal for me. Absolutely!

I did want to gently remind everyone that the holiday season can be tough for some. Though according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Preventionthe there is not a spike in suicides during the holiday season as many have falsely reported. However, it certainly is a good time to reach out to distant friends and loved ones and let them know you are thinking about them.
Seriously, sometimes a quick text or call can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
And also take a look at our blog post for this show for ways you can improve someone’s life during the holiday season. If we all
Planting a little seed of kindness in any way that you can is always the right thing to do. Like we always say, stay strong, stay true, and stay hungry. Have a great rest of the week y’all.
