Morgan Wallen Makes History!

It finally happened! Morgan Wallen crushes Garth Brooks record for most weeks for a country album at number one on the all genre Billboard 200 chart. It’s so amazing to see this happen in our lifetime!  One Thing At A Time has been on the Billboard Hot 200 chart for an unprecedented 53 weeks. Nineteen of those weeks have been at number one.

An important note is that Morgan Wallen’s album is the first in over a decade to log 19 trips to the top of the Billboard 200 across genres. Furthermore, only eleven other albums in the history of the chart have ever spent 19 or more weeks at number one. Among them is one of my favorite singers Adele, who spent 24 weeks at number one with her iconic album 21.

Garth Brooks has held the record for 18 non consecutive weeks at number one for a country album “nearly” three decades. This is an incredible milestone, and a heartfelt congrats! There has been a flurry of activity from the East Tennessee native as he’s taken some well deserved time off from a hectic touring schedule.

Most recently, fans were treated to stripped down versions of a few of Morgan Wallen’s popular songs. They were reimagined at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Pink Floyd’s iconic Dark Side of the Moon was recorded there. This is a solid version of Sunrise, still one of my faves.

His duet with Thomas Rhett is projected as the number one song on the Country Airplay chart for the week ending March 23, 2024. This will be Morgan’s 11th number one. Another note, we’ll have to wait and see, but Whiskey Glasses has sold over 9 million copies. One million more and it earns a diamond certification.

This would be another incredible accomplishment as there are currently only eight country songs that have achieved a diamond certification..
