TRANSCRIPT

Hi this is Sana, and I’m Anna.

We are the ladies of Stone Cold Country, and this is

the August 2023 Texas Six Pack.

The Texas Six Pack was a feature we created in late 2018 for our Stone Cold Country radio show. Due to the incredible popularity of the segment, in January 2023, we decided to roll it out as a stand alone podcast with a new episode every month.

We always like to kick things off with some news from the Lone Star State. Finally, an official proclamation from the State of Texas, recognizing the inaugural Cindy Walker Days in Mexia, Texas.

Cindy was a trailblazer, and instrumental in some of the most iconic country classics like Elvis' You Don’t Know Me, and Bob Wills’ Cherokee Maisen.

Cindy is widely regarded as one of the greatest country songwriters of all-time, and was inducted into the National Cowgirls Hall of Fame, The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, The Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame and The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. She was the first woman elected to the Country Music Association Board.

And lastly y’all be careful while mowing your lawn. Not that the extreme heat, the highest ever in many areas isn’t enough. You also have to worry about snakes falling from the sky! Peggy Jones from Silsbee Texas had the unfortunate experience of a snake 4ft and a half falling on her arm.

Then a hawk swooped down and tried to claw the snake from her arm. You really can’t make this stuff up. Meanwhile the snake kept tightening around her arm while the hawk kept clawing. The Hawk was successful and flew away with its lunch. And Peggy was treated at the local ER. How frightening!

A Cat In The Rain

Probably one of the most anticipated albums in the indie country scene and it just dropped and is available everywhere but we always strongly encourage purchasing from the artist’s site, which in this case is turnpiketroubadours.com. Here’s the title track.

Darrin Morris @Darrinmorrisban

I Can Drink In This Bar This single made its debut on Nashville’s Radio SoBro show, and was written by Leslie Bowe, Ralston Wells and

Jeff Roe.

Bubba Bellin,@bubbabellin Open Harbor from the “Texas Funktry” artist let’s hear it..

Next up Nick Zamora from San Antonio Texas with his self-penned debut single Not Good For Me playing now..@NickZamoraMusic

We’re going to close out with the legendary Lyle Lovett @LyleLovett, 12th of June, an alternative version From the album of the same name, taken from his child’s birth date. Aaw…It’s a reflection on fatherhood and cherished, long honored family traditions drawn from his own experience as a Texas dad.
